It's starting again ...

I shall now re-commence obsessing about Harry Potter: JK Rowling has announced that at least two characters will die at the end of Book Seven. My first guess: Ron and Hermione. In addition to Voldemort, of course.

I do hope she doesn't kill Harry. She hinted about it, saying she understood an author's desire to kill off a main character, but that she hasn't been tempted to kill Harry off before the end of Bbook Seven (emphasis mine). "I can completely understand, however, the mentality of an author who thinks 'Well, I'm going to kill them off because that means there can be no non-author-written sequels ... so it will end with me, and after I'm dead and gone they won't be able to bring back the character'."

At any rate, the book is due out next summer, and we can expect more hints to follow at strategic intervals until we are are ready to trample little children in our haste to get the books the moment they are released.

the potterverse is like the buffyverse: you can't ever assume that someone is really dead.

in other words, if she kills off harry, she can tell herself that no one can bring him back... but they can.

...so she may as well just not kill him, then.

yeah, and that comment didn't really strike me as a hint per se, more of a measured response to a question like "have you considered killing off harry?"

i think snape will die, and maybe neville--both doing something heroic!

next summer???? i had no idea it would be out so soon!!

Here's what she said in another article:
"A price has to be paid, we are dealing with pure evil here. They don't target extras, do they? They go for the main characters -- well, I do."

Also: The author said she did not want to commit herself either way on Potter's fate, telling interviewers Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan: "I don't want the hate mail, apart from anything else."

And it may not be next summer--I have just seen the date "2007" as when it's supposed to come out, and she always releases them in the summer.

Nope, very wrong wont be them. Hermoine will take over as tranfiguration teacher down the road, it makes sense she is Mcgarnickles twin.

#1 Lupin will die, as a warewolf and wormtails silver hand.

And Snape will die.
